Proxmox Datacenter Manager (PDM)

ProxMan new version adds full support for Proxmox Datacenter Manager (PDM) — manage multiple Proxmox VE clusters and Proxmox Backup Servers from a single connection.

What is PDM?

Proxmox Datacenter Manager is Proxmox's central management platform for overseeing multiple PVE clusters and PBS backup servers. Instead of adding each cluster individually, you connect to your PDM instance and ProxMan gives you a fleet-wide view of your entire infrastructure.

PDM joins PVE and PBS as a fully supported server type in ProxMan, with a dedicated management experience and dashboard integration.

Adding a PDM Server

1. Open ProxMan and tap Add Server

2. Select Proxmox Datacenter Manager (PDM)

3. Enter your server details:

- Display Name: Friendly name (e.g., "Production Datacenter")

- Hostname/IP: Your PDM server address

- Port: 8443 (default)

- Username and Realm: Your PDM credentials

- Password or API Token

4. Tap Add Device to save

Authentication Notes

  • PDM supports traditional authentication (username/password) and API tokens
  • TOTP/2FA is supported
  • OpenID Connect is not supported for PDM connections — use password or API token authentication

PDM devices appear on the dashboard with a globe icon and Datacenter Manager label, with the same online/offline/TOTP status handling as PVE and PBS servers.

Datacenter Dashboard

Infrastructure Health

  • Connected remotes count and status
  • Total PVE nodes across all clusters
  • VM and LXC counts fleet-wide
  • PBS datastore count
  • SDN zone summary

Resource Aggregation

  • Combined CPU, memory, and storage usage across all PVE and PBS remotes
  • Top-CPU guest preview across the fleet

Task Summary

  • 48-hour task overview grouped by status (ok, warning, error, unknown)

Connected Remotes

  • List of all PVE clusters and PBS servers registered in PDM
  • Tap a remote to drill down into per-remote management
  • Use Magic Link to jump to native PVE/PBS screens (see Magic Link guide)

Per-Remote Management

Tap any remote in the connected-remotes list to open the per-remote view:

PVE Remotes

  • Node selector with scoped CPU, memory, and storage per node
  • Guest lists: VMs, LXCs, and templates with power actions (start, shutdown)
  • Storage list for the selected node
  • Performance chart: RRD data with hour/day/week/month views
  • Recent tasks for the remote
  • Remote terminal: Shell into nodes via PDM proxy

PBS Remotes

  • Datastore list with usage information
  • Performance chart for the remote
  • Recent tasks

Fleet-Wide Guest Browser

The Guests screen lets you browse and control workloads across all remotes:

  • View all VMs and containers fleet-wide
  • Filter by running or stopped state
  • Search by name, remote, node, or VMID
  • Guests grouped by type (VM, LXC, template)
  • Start and shutdown actions from the guest list

Task Log

The Tasks screen shows up to 200 tasks from the last 48 hours:

  • Optional filtering by remote or node
  • Status filters (ok, warning, error, unknown)
  • Full-text search across task entries

PBS Datastore Detail

For PBS remotes, tap a datastore to view:

Overview Tab

  • Datastore path and configuration
  • Garbage collection schedule
  • Maintenance mode status
  • Storage usage with RRD performance chart

Content Tab

  • Namespace tree browser
  • Grouped backup snapshots
  • Verification and protected status per snapshot

iOS Widget

PDM servers are supported in ProxMan's iOS home screen widgets (iOS 14+):

  • Small/Medium: Fleet health, remotes online/total, node counts
  • Large: Aggregate CPU, memory, and disk bars plus VM/LXC counts
  • Status text like "Online (3/4 remotes)"
  • Control Widget shows Fleet/VMs/LXCs for PDM servers
