Managing Virtual Machines
Learn how to manage your Proxmox virtual machines and LXC containers with ProxMan.
Viewing Virtual Machines
VM List
The node dashboard shows all your virtual machines and containers:
- Status Indicator: Green (running), Red (stopped)
- Resource Usage: CPU usage at a glance
- Quick Actions: Start, stop, restart buttons
VM Details
Tap on any VM to view detailed information:
- Real-time resource usage graphs
- Network statistics
- Disk I/O performance
- Configuration details
- Console access
VM Operations
Starting a VM
1. Navigate to the VM list
2. Tap on the VM you want to start
3. Tap the "Start" button
4. Wait for the VM to boot (status will change to green)
Stopping a VM
1. Select the VM from the list
2. Tap the "Stop" button
3. Choose shutdown method:
- Graceful Shutdown: Sends ACPI shutdown signal
- Force Stop: Immediately stops the VM
Restarting a VM
1. Select the VM
2. Tap the "Restart" button
3. The VM will perform a graceful restart
LXC Container Management
ProxMan supports full LXC container management:
- Start, stop, and restart containers
- View container resource usage
- Access container console
- Monitor container performance
Console Access
Accessing VM VNC
1. Open the VM details
2. Tap "Console"
3. Use the on-screen keyboard or external keyboard
4. Pinch to zoom for better visibility
Console Features
- Full keyboard support
- Copy/paste functionality
- Screen rotation support
- Adjustable font size
Resource Monitoring
Real-Time Metrics
Monitor your VMs in real-time:
- CPU Usage: Current and historical CPU utilization
- Memory: RAM usage and available memory
- Disk I/O: Read/write operations per second
- Network: Incoming/outgoing traffic
Performance Graphs
View historical performance data:
- Last hour, day, week, or month
- Identify performance trends
- Optimize resource allocation
VM Configuration
Viewing Configuration
Access VM configuration details:
- CPU cores and sockets
- Memory allocation
- Disk configuration
- Network interfaces
- Boot order
Modifying Settings
Some settings can be modified directly from ProxMan:
- Memory allocation (requires VM restart)
- CPU cores (requires VM restart)
- Boot order
Snapshots
Creating Snapshots
1. Open VM details
2. Tap "Snapshots"
3. Tap "Create Snapshot"
4. Enter a name and description
